In the majority of cases, a tooth that has decayed, been damaged in an accident or is otherwise severely damaged can still be saved covered with a crown. Often, this may require root canal treatment or stump preparation. To be able to crown a tooth, a small amount of tooth material has to be removed from around the tooth.
In the case of a missing tooth, a bridge can be used to replace the lost tooth by preparing the teeth bordering the missing tooth. The material of crowns and bridges can vary (metal-ceramic, zirconium, pressed ceramic, etc...) so there is a price difference due to the material difference.
